TOP 5 WINTER ACTIVITIES TO DO AT BRETTON WOODS

Can you guys believe Ryan and I had never been skiing in our neighboring state of New Hampshire?! We are only an hour and a half away from the White Mountains, so this Valentine's Day weekend we took a trip over the state line and checked in to the Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods! We enjoyed many of the activities the resort had to offer, including skiing, a scenic gondola ride, and après-ski dining! You can view my top 5 winter activities to do at Bretton Woods here!

1.

Skiing

There are so many reasons why Bretton Woods is one of the top ski resorts in the East. Not only is it the largest ski area in New Hampshire with three peaks, 63 trails, and 35 glades, but it is also super family-friendly. We saw skiers of all ages, and the resort had terrain for all levels, from learning slopes to double-black diamonds for the adventurous (aka Ryan!). FUN FACT: Bretton Woods also has designated family slopes where speed skiing is not allowed!

2.

Scenic Gondola Ride

The Bretton Woods Skyway Gondola is a must-do activity whether you are skiing and riding, visiting the Rosebrook Lodge for lunch, or just want to take in the grandeur of the White Mountains (or, like us, ALL OF THE ABOVE!)! It is New Hampshire’s first 8-passenger Gondola and takes less than 5 minutes to get to the top. Some fun facts about the Gondola:

o The 17 lift towers, if laid end-to-end, measure 841 feet. The Eiffel Tower is 1000 feet tall o The gondola utilizes 2 1/4 miles of wire rope (cable) o Over 500 cubic yards of concrete was poured for foundations and pads o Uphill speed is more than 13 mph or 1,200 feet per minute o Ride time is 4.9 minutes o Tickets are $25 for guests ages 5 & up, and free for guests under 4 with accompanying paying adult

3.

Dine at the Switchback Grille

At the top of your scenic gondola ride, you will find the beautiful and brand new Rosebrook Lodge. Offering incredible panoramic views of Mount Washington and the entire Presidential Range, you can opt to dine in at their Switchback Grille, or grab and go at Crystal Hills or the Peaks Cafe! Ryan and I took a break from skiing to warm up and have lunch at the Switchback Grille and it did not disappoint. We got a cozy table by the fireplace and had the most amazing views of the White Mountains. Plus we got to watch the adventurous skiers head down the Zealand and Snake trails. I ordered the Three Cheese Grilled Cheese with Caramelized Onions, Tomato Jam and a Tomato Soup "dipper" and Ryan got the All-American Burger! DELICIOUS and well worth the journey to the peak of Mt. Rosebrook! The Switchback Grille also offers European-inspired appetizers such as raclette, charcuterie and Bavarian pretzels, which we can't wait to try on our next visit!

4.

Apres Ski Activities

If you're not into skiing, or just want to try some other fun apres ski activities, Bretton Woods offers A TON! You can opt for snow tubing, carriage and sleigh rides, Winter Fat Tire biking, nearby snowmobiling and more. Plus, there are always visitors congregating in the numerous lodge areas if you want to enjoy a bite to eat or some beverages by the fire!

5.

Omni Mount Washington

The Omni Mount Washington Resort is THE SIGNATURE property of Bretton Woods. Even if you are not staying at the resort, we highly recommend visiting for a unique dining experience or to participate in the many winter activities they offer on site. It is a gorgeous, historic hotel that will make you feel like you stepped back in time, with many of the features being original or replicated to look just like they did back in the early 1900s. You can read all about our stay at the Omni Mount Washington Resort in my last blog post!

There are endless possibilities for fun, family-friendly winter activities at Bretton Woods Ski Resort, so head to https://www.brettonwoods.com/activities/winter_activities/overview for more ideas! Let us know if you take the trip and, as always, ENJOY! :)

Our stay at the Omni Mount Washington Resort and our lift tickets at Bretton Woods Ski Resort were comped in exchange for the blog and social media coverage we provided. However I am not being compensated for this post. Thank you to the Omni Mount Washington and Bretton Woods Ski Resort for hosting us!
