MY GUIDE TO ALYS BEACH, FLORIDA
Alys Beach is perhaps one of the most visually stunning towns I have visited in a long time! The sugar-white sand and turquoise waters are complimented by a carefully crafted world in which all of the homes and buildings are whitewashed and nestled in the palm trees. You will find secluded courtyards, wide open green spaces, and beautiful entryways as you explore the stone-paved streets. Alys Beach is definitely an unforgettable oasis.
Charlie’s Donut Truck: The converted Sunbeam truck is an Alys Beach staple. Enjoy their hand rolled donuts, but get their early as they usually sell out quick!
George’s at Alys Beach: The menu at George’s is divided into two sections - “Behave,” which features a healthier take on their local, organic dishes, and the tempting “Misbehave.” We opted to do a bit of each and shared the delicious Lobster Quesadilla and Salmon BLT Wrap!
NEAT: This bottle shop and tasting room houses delicious craft beers, artisan mixers, and spirits. You can sip from their rotating menu or bring all of the fixings home with you!
Alys Beach Shoppe: This luxury beach boutique has everything from Alys Beach logo apparel to handcrafted jewelry and the lastest designer beachwear.
Walking: Strolling through the streets of Alys Beach is an activity all on its own. Admire the beautiful architecture, colorful doorways, and hidden courtards.
Biking: The Timpoochee Trail is an 18-mile pathway that connects many of the beach neighborhoods along Scenic 30A. There are plenty of bikes to rent and you can keep them for your entire trip or just for the day.
Kayaking: There are many beautiful state parks and dune lakes to kayak in, or you can head right into the gulf! Many days the water is calm and you can see dolphins, sea turtles and other sea creatures! If you head into Grayton Beach State Park you can even paddle straight from the Western Lake into the Gulf!
Stand-Up Paddleboarding: The calm, smooth waters of the dune lakes along Scenic 30A are perfect for stand-up paddleboarding. I even saw people paddling out into the gulf when the waves weren't too big. You can rent a board and even take lessons if it's your first time.
Yoga: Yoga studios dot the drive from Panama City Beach to Miramar Beach, offering indoor classes and outdoor sessions on the sand. If you're feeling adventurous you can even practice your flow on top of a stand-up paddleboard!
