WHAT I BUY AT THE GROCERY STORE

I love snooping on other people's grocery carts, whether it is through a blog post, on Pinterest, or while I'm online in the grocery store! I always discover so many new options, ingredients to add to dishes I already love, and things to try that I never have. Ryan and I try to mix it up with our meals as much as we can, especially dinner, but we tend to buy the same staples on each trip.

Luckily, we have the most delicious water where we live so each time I hit up the store I get some fresh lemons so that we can start our days off right with some warm water and lemon juice. I also tend to use lemons a lot when cooking and add the fresh squeezed juice to my arugula salad during lunch. A huge plus about our grocery store is that the first thing you see when you walk in is all of the fresh produce. I always fill up my cart with some fresh fruits like grapes, blueberries and pineapples and then head for the veggies. Lately, I've been loving carrots, cucumbers and celery as a snack (dipped in hummus or ranch dressing YUM!) and have been using arugula, cherry tomatoes, asparagus and brussels sprouts in salads or as sides with dinner.

When it comes to snacking, I keep trying to stay as healthy as I can with it. This trip we went for pistachios, almonds, cheese cubes, pretzel chips, and some deli turkey slices! Stay tuned for my next blog post to see how I meal prep all of these options into snack/lunch packs for each day of the week!

I've also really started to love La Croix Sparkling Water, which definitely helps me stay away from soda or other sugary drinks. Other than that, we really only drink iced tea or some kind of organic local juice like Orange Juice or Apple Cider. I've also been buying chocolate almond milk, which goes great in smoothies! I will also either add some Oikos yogurt to my smoothie or mix it with some granola and fresh fruit for a quick snack.

Surprisingly, we don't really eat much meat and tend to stick to fish or ground turkey. We save our carnivorous appetite for when we splurge on a nice steak at dinner or, for Ryan, when he eats McDonald's on the road!

This week we have a bunch of friends and family coming to visit following Twiddle's shows at the Paramount Theatre in Rutland, so I added a few extras to my cart. I will be making my family recipe of Chicken Soup, which I have previously shared on my Instagram stories and is in my EATS Highlight!

Do you guys like when I share recipes, shopping recommendations, and meal prep advice? Let me know and I can do them more often (or less)! Plus, if you have a favorite grocery item, I know everyone reading would love to see it in the comments! Thanks for reading and sharing!

xoxo. Alexandra
