A TASTE OF AZIA IN ARUBA

For as long as I can remember we have been coming to Aruba on vacation. When I was about two years old, my parents purchased a time share at the Casa Del Mar Resort and it has been a second home for me and my family. I was so excited when I looked at Ryan’s schedule and saw that he had a few days off on exactly the week that we always go, and that I could finally show him my version of growing up. We’ve been to his cottage in Canada four times now since we began dating but he’s never seen my side of what a family vacation for the Evers’ is like! Unfortunately, this year my entire family was unable to come, but we got to travel with my father, Stephen, sister, Samantha, and her boyfriend, Colby. Ryan had a ton of shows over Labor Day Weekend so it was just the fam until he arrived Tuesday afternoon. We had fun relaxing and reading in the sun and visiting with old friends that we have known for over twenty years. On one of the first nights on the island I got to spend some time with my dad and we went to a delicious dinner at Azia Restaurant and Lounge, a rather new restaurant on the island and part of the Gianni Group, which own some of he best restaurants in town. All of the dishes at Azia Restaurant and Lounge are authentic and inspired by Asian traditional recipes from China, India, Indonesia, Korea and Japan. The restaurant was beautiful from the entrance to the interior, with a unique Zen-Garden, a stylish bar which they boast to be Aruba’s longest bar offering a wide selection of wines, classic Asian and customized cocktails. They also offered a VIP table that overlooked their large Buddah sculpture, which was shipped from Indonesia, covered in gold leaf in Colombia and now sits shining in the center of the restaurant in Aruba!

We indulged in some delicious sashimi, sushi, and cocktails. We shared thinly sliced Yellowtail Sashimi topped with jalapeños and bathed in their special soy sauce for an appetizer and each picked our own sushi dish to share. I opted for the Spicy Tuna Bon Bons - temari with avocado, spicy ahi tuna, and spicy sesame oil. My dad chose the King Crab Roll - fresh crab and mango with spicy mayo. They were both equally delicious and we enjoyed them with some Peronis and Champagne! After dinner we headed in to town and walked around some of the luxury high rise hotels before heading home that evening. The next morning Ryan was set to arrive and we would begin exploring the island and going on excursions! I can’t wait to share all of our adventures with you :)

xoxo. Alexandra
