I had such an incredible time this weekend which culminated in us officially moving into our new house! Even though I was super stressed and rushed with packing, I couldn’t turn down Peach Festival and the Unbroken Train shows at CMAC and Levon Helm’s barn in Woodstock. And let me tell you it was so worth it! Both days spent at Peach Festival were incredible. We got to see Twiddle (obviously), Kitchen Dwellers, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, moe., Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band, the Revivalists and so much more! One of my favorite parts of the two days we spent there was seeing the Revivalists play “Soulfight,” which was our wedding song. We stood on the side stage and slow danced just like it was our wedding day. Of course I cried! Haha!
The drive to CMAC was super long so we had to wake up early and hit the road. The venue was amazing and it was nice to get there a little early to see our frends in Midnight North since I missed them at Peach Festival. I had a lovely dinner with the Lesh and Teter families (the Teters are Claire Lesh’s parents - you may remember her from her guest post!) before the show and then got ready to spend the night dancing! The Twiddle show was probably one of my favorite shows. Though, I must admit, I was pretty terrified when Ryan decided to get up on the chair for his keytar solo with a broken rib! Luckily it ended up being worth it because he didn’t get hurt worse and it sounded incredible (I will share that on my Instagram @tourwifetourlife so check it out!)! The Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band set was next and featured so many of my favorite songs that I was in pure bliss. It was great to send it all off with a sit in from the Twiddle guys on “Not Fade Away.” It brought me back to the Dead50 Fare Thee Well shows which I went to with Ryan! It’s so crazy how things have changed so much since then!
The next morning we headed down to Levon Helm Studios, the home of Levon’s legendary Midnight Rambles on 18 acres in historic Woodstock, New York. The place is absolutely magical! It was constructed in 1975 and has held intimate concerts and recording sessions with some of the greatest musicians of all time. It was amazing to see photos of all of the talent that has stepped foot through the doors. To hear Twiddle soundcheck sent chills down my spine and I was feeling beyond proud! Levon designed the space himself for these exact purposes and I hope that he was there in spirit to hear the amazing music that went down. Midnight North kicked the night off, followed by Twiddle and then Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band. There were so many standouts that I can’t even pick just one, so I really hope they release the recordings so y’all can hear it!
We had to leave directly after the show to get back to Burlington and pack for our move. It was definitely a whirlwind weekend but now we are pretty much totally in our new house! This weekend we have even more music - Robert Banks Trio, Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band, and two days of Tumbledown! I can’t wait!
