ONE LOVE CALI

Last week I told you about the first two stops on my trip to Las Vegas, a fun night out in Downtown at the Neon Boneyard and a full day of Twiddle music at Zappos Headquarters with Taraleigh and later on at Brooklyn Bowl with Iya Terra and Stick Figure (if you didn't read about them yet just click on the links to catch up!). Saturday morning we got in the Twiddle tour bus and were on our way to Long Beach, California for the One Love Cali Fest. When we finally arrived we were surrounded by cop cars on all sides and they wanted to search the bus! It was pretty scary at first but all they wanted to do was search for explosives and weapons. With all that has been happening in our country lately I had absolutely no problem with that - but it definitely took a long time and we had to sit on the curb on the side of the road for a while. I used that time wisely and convinced Ryan that instead of driving back with the bus that night after their set he should stay with me for the rest of the weekend. IT WORKED! We also got to chat a bit with their bus driver who was super cool and had toured in the past with a ton of bands. He told us that their bus was probably worth around $1.3 million WOW! And he also told us about his time driving for Taylor Swift and how they put over a million miles on the buses for her tour. It was really interesting to learn about and made me appreciate all he does, and the other drivers do, for the guys when they are on the road. Once we were allowed back on the bus we got ready for Twiddle to play. They had the final set of the night so once it was over we would be able to hang with friends and celebrate that the Above The Storm Tour had come to an end. Not only did Twiddle play a great set that night - one of my favorite versions of Jamflowman ever - but we had a great time hanging out with Stick Figure once the rest of the Twiddle guys left. Ryan and the Stick Figure keyboardist Kevin Bong gave us a show skateboarding around the bus lot which was really cool. If you were following the @tourwifetourlife Instagram story while I was gone you would've seen some amazing tricks! I always knew Ryan could skateboard but haven't ever gotten a chance to see how good he actually is. Lucky for us the guys from Stick Figure let us stay with them on their bus for the night so we got to wake up to live music in the morning and explore the festival grounds throughout the day.

The Stick Figure set was amazing and we made a last minute decision to spend some more time with friends and see Nas close out the night. Ryan didn't really get it but since I'm from Queens it brought a ton of memories from my childhood back! before heading to our hotel in Los Angeles. Since we were flying out on Monday night we spent the day hanging with Ryan's friends, the Fricks, and their adorable kids wandering around Hermosa Beach. We went for lunch at the cutest restaurant called Gum Tree Cafe, housed in a classic 1911 beach bungalow. Then we walked the boardwalk and got a little history lesson from Ryder (our friends' son) about surf hero and lifeguard legend Tim Kelly, who's life is commemorated in a statue at the beginning of the pier. It was such a beautiful day and lovely way to end an unexpected trip out west!

Nice to see the beach and ocean on our trip before getting back to the cold winter weather

An amazing sandwich I got from Gum Tree Cafe, filled with tuna, artichoke hearts,

jalapeños and more - I could get used to Cali food!

I can't wait for the next unexpected adventure! I feel so blessed that I can up-and-go last minute like this and see my husband play. And even more so make some amazing friends along the way!

xoxo. Alexandra
